O Grupo de Teatro Experimental The Algarveans, vai levar à cena no Auditório Municipal de Lagoa no próximo mês de Março, a pantomina Robin Wood and Babesin the Wood, peça baseada num velho texto inglês de 1595, que se chamava ao tempo, “The Children in the Wood” e que foi encenada pela primeira vez em 1793 como ópera no Teatro Haymarket.
Mais tarde, em 1827, o Drury Lane Theatre em Londres voltou a apresentar esta pantomina, sob o título “Arlequim e Cock Robin ou Babes in the Wood”.
A história gira à volta de um sheriff que enriquece afanosamente, enquanto os pobres ficam ainda mais pobres, forçando os habitantes a pagar cada vez mais impostos, ao estilo da Tróika daquele tempo. Uma peça dominada pelo humor, em que voam tartes de creme, música e muitas gargalhadas sonoras, em mais uma iniciativa deste grupo deb Teatro experimental, que comemora o seu vig~essimo aniversário, com esta peça memorável.
De 12 a 14 de Março, o Auditório Municipal de Lagoa, será palco de boa disposição, com a exibição desta peça falada em inglês.

It’s panto time again….Oh yes it is!

The wicked Sheriff is growing rich on the many taxes he is forcing the poor townsfolk to pay and he is just about to become even richer, sounds a bit like the Troika! Pip and Penny, recently orphaned and heirs to vast fortunes, have been entrusted into the wicked Sheriff’s care and he is hatching a horrible plan to make sure that he will inherit the cash and marry the beautiful Maid Marion into the bargain.
All that stands in his way is the very brave and dashing Robin Hood and his Merry Men, the fearsome Nanny Coddle, brainless Dave Knave (the wannabe outlaw) and a rather overworked Fairy. Will they succeed in thwarting the evil plot and beat the Sheriff and his villainous henchmen? You will have to get down to see

The Pantomime is based on an old English Ballad from 1595, called “The Children in the Wood” or “The Norfolk Gentleman’s Last Will and Testament” It was first staged in 1793 as an opera at the Haymarket Theatre before it re-emerged as a pantomime at the Drury Lane Theatre, London in 1827 entitled ‘Harlequin and Cock Robin or Babes in the Wood’. Guaranteed to be full of terrible jokes, flying custard pies, music and laughter – we’ve pulled out all the stops to ensure that our 20th anniversary pantomime will be one to remember! So come along and brighten up a cold winter’s night and watch The Algarveans Experimental Theatre Group perform this most traditional of stories at the Lagoa Auditorium on Wednesday to Friday 12th to 14th March 2014 at 8pm.
